Just thought I would throw this thread together to see if any of the other members here have interest in the genre of fighting games.

Over the years I have played many fighting games from most of the main series: Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat, BlazBlue etc.

Mainly, I am currently playing BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend on my vita. I am getting really hyped for the new BlazBlue game coming out: Chrono Phantasma (BBCP) - releases March 25th! I have my Limited Edition already pre-ordered and just can't wait!

My favourite Fighting game is definitely the BlazBlue series. Litchi is my main fighter of choice and I just love the intricacies in her playstyle.

My 2nd most played Fighting game is probably King of Fighters XIII. Its a 3v3 team based fighter - my main team usually consists of King, Yumi and Mr. Karate.

I am not the best fighting game player, but I can usually hold my own in some online matches. If anyone else is considering BBCP let me know! Maybe we can hook up online for some matches!

What about you guys? Play any of the above series? Play fighting games from a series I didn't mention? Excited for 2014 EVO?
Let's discuss.

I used to play fighting games back in the day, don't play many anymore as I generally only play games on the PC and I don't have the patience to work through the learning process needed to get into most fighting games anymore.

hmm lets see played the following I think.

GuiltyGear, Samurai Showdown, King of Fighters, Tekken, Toshinden, Tobal No1. , Erghiz, Streetfighter, Metal and Lace, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibure, Starwars: Masters of Tera Kasai, Killer Instinct, Primal Rage, Clay Fighter, Dark Stalkers, Bloody Roar, Fatal Fury

I think pretty much if it was on SNES, Sega, or PS1 and was made by Capcom, SNK, or Midway I probably played it at some time.

Oh yea, I totally forgot Killer Instinct and Primal Rage - I played those too!

I am really liking more of the Ark System Works games these days - you mentioned Guilty Gear - that is an ASW game and they actually have a new rendition in the works and will be released relatively soon: Guilty Gear Xrd.

ASW was also the team that made the Persona 4 Arena fighting game - another great fighter. It followed hot off the heels of Persona 4 Golden and features characters from both Persona 4 and Persona 3. They actually have an ultimate edition being released this year which will introduce many changes and a few new characters.

Kezia might be seeing a bit less FFXIV playtime once BBCP comes out. I really want to get good at it, but I also need to make sure I meet my myth tome caps :D

That being said, King of Fighters will also always have a special place in my heart!

Oh yea! I totally forgot about Virtua Fighter! I had one of those games back on the Sega Dreamcast! Great game, and great system (the Dreamcast).

There are soooooooo many different fighting game series! Sometimes I would play like 3 or 4 different games concurrently - but it gets too hard to memorize so many different movesets and be able to play well on all of them, so I have decided to stick just to two. Turns out both BBCP and KOFXIII are going to be at EVO this year so I am definitely looking forward to watching the streams of those matches!

Last game I played was SF4 on PS3. The arcade stick for PS3/PC was pretty great and helped. I was about average among decent players.

My problem with fighters is the same as that of shooters. I start late, and play against people that just know the games inside out and blow my nuts off. Discouraging :O

I do have BlazBlue and some Tekken on Vita and may undertake the learning curves to get back into them.

Yea SFxT (Street Fighter x Tekken) is free right now for Vita owners who have PS+. It is a good game, but compared to other fighters it is not nearly as technical, the FGC hates it overall due to the gem system and it really just feels really, really slow. Street fighter in general is much slower than other fighters. So is Mortal Kombat. BlazBlue has dashes, air dashes, double jumps etc that just make for a much more fluid feel.

If you end up taking an interest again in BlazBlue, look up Chrono Phantasma. I'm going to need some people to play with ;)

I wish I had the funds to pick up an arcade stick. I am also scared that if I pick one up now, it might not work with the PS4 - I have heard some PS3 peripherals are not compatible with the PS4. So I am basically biding my time and will try to get an arcade stick for the PS4 and next-next gen (:P) fighting games.

I love the VF series, but am a fan of fighting games as a rule. I voted for MK as it's the last one I bought...

Yea MK was a great game. I played it for a while. It was awesome that it also had 3D support on the PS3 as it is one of the few games that I have made use of my 3D tv for.

I was an avid Reptile and Kitana player for a while.

However, after going back to my main loves BB and KoF for a bit, then trying to get back into MK I decided it just wasn't meant to be and traded MK in for credit. The game is much slower. The characters do not have dashes - there is forward and backward movement but its not a dash. Also, I did not like the idea of a dedicated 'block' button. Most of the more technical fighting games block when you press the opposite direction of the attacker. This allows for cross-ups to be an effecitve plan. In MK there are no cross ups, since no matter which direction you are being attacked from, all you need to do is hit block (high vs. low block still matters, but left vs. right does not).

Man so much of my arcade time was spent with fighters .So many like the Street Fighter series from the giant buttoned original cabinet to current stuff , the Fatal Fury and KOF seriers as well as the Samurai Showdown stuff , I have played almost every fighting game listed this point so I see all these awesome titles and wonder if anyone remembers or has heard of The Darkstalkers series ,Bloody Roar,Power Stone ,Fighting Vipers,Plasma Sword or King of the Monsters ? Plus I was a huge fan of pretty much all of the older Versus games that Capcom put out in the mid-late 90's

I found a chronophantasma. Shows level 1 and language Japanese.
I might have the wrong person.
This is via PSN right, or some BlazBlue nickname related to that game only?

Yea Chrono Phantasma has not yet been released on NA shores. It releases March 25. You can, if you prefer, import the Japanese version and begin playing. There is no region lock on the game, I believe. Some of the die hard fans have done so to get a leg up on the new mechanics and use the new fighters. All of the menu options etc. are in Japanese though so it would be tough to play, though some translations do exist. I couldn't be bothered though and am just waiting for the NA release.

You said look up Chrono Phantasma. I thought that was your PSN ID.
I should retract that friend invite.
I played a little bit of BB and SF x Tekken (yeah it's fun).

Oh! I see it now. Went back and re-read what I had written and it was a bit ambiguous. What I meant was if you are getting back into BlazBlue games, to look up information on the newest iteration: Chrono Phantasma, then buy it and play it. :P

If you would like to friend me on PSN my ID is: Chaotic11
